I've heard it said that baby brine shrimp are one of (if not) the best foods to feed young and developing fish, adults too. However, at a certain age they stop being as nutritious, and have a good deal of roughage (?). This gentleman raises the shrimp to colony size. Thoughts?

best of luck. I am interested in hearing the results as well. It always seemed to be such a waste when you don't get all of the shrimps and tossing the walt water right after as well.

I use an inverted 2 litre pop bottle with the bottom cut off.  Put a hole in the cap and silicone air tubing in.  Fill about half way add salt add BS.  After 24 hours tons of baby Brine to feed fry.  Cut your air, place a light close to the bottom shells float to the top and live shrimp go to the bottom where the light is.  I believe 36 to 48 hours and they lose quite abit of nutritional value.  It's awesome to watch Discus fry eat them and get "fat belly's".

I do the same as pelle, however, I can see the benefits for older fry. They lose nutritional value if you don't feed them. I believe they would still have nutritional value as the gent was adding food. these would just be used for adults to condition them to breed...

I am contemplating another brine shrimp egg order. Does anyone have experience with the different brands, ie San Francisco Bay vs OSI vs no name. I am considering ordering lower grade hatch rate eggs, and if anyone notices the difference between the different purported hatch rates, I would love to know your experience.

I do not use a lot of eggs; certainly not like the boys with big eggs. For me a one pound can would last years and I am concerned about the freshness beyond 12 months. I have heard that you can store in the freezer, but this does not make sense since the freshness is more about atmospheric exchange (sealed vs exposed once opened). I would much rather have smaller packages that I open rather than a large can that could be stale.
