Question re Goldfish

I have a 75 gallon with 3 fancy goldfish (one blackmoore, 2 fancies)
I adopted all 3 of them together
they were living in a tank far too small to accommodate their needs
my question is this...do fish...in particular perhaps fancy goldfish work best or better in pairs? should I have 4?
The 3 appear to be fine together...just wondered.....

It's been my experience that they like being in groups of 40 or 50.  

Seriously, they do like being around other fish, no need to have pairs of the same kind just not alone. They are very sociable fish and like to have friends.

just truly wondered if they needed to be pairs or should be in pairs or not as we have the 3.....
have never thought about it until this evening...
oh and re the 40 or 50...guess I had better get working on that tank for the basement!!!!!
