Enjoying my koi pond

Post by emeraldking on Fri Dec 30, 2016 2:37 pm

It's always fun to watch koi and especially when it's in your own backyard. It's so relaxing when you come late to grab a beer or a glass of wine and sit at your pond. Just watch those fish swim and feed them by hand. At least, that's how I see it...

Could not agree more,

That's one of the great things of having my fish at work. If your having a bad day, spending a few minutes just watching the fish can do wonders.

So true!
You can slap me, yell at me or beat really the hell out of me... Just put me in front of a fishtank or pond and I'll be relaxed within seconds...

That goes with all fish! I am not keeping koi but I do the same with my fish tanks; just sit in front of them and watch the fish.

I agree that is why I have a 55 in my office at work its my one planted Tank that uses soft water (bottle water) and has been a challenge but is well worth it now that I have clear water and growing plants and Fish.

We would love to have a koi pond. We saw two koi - huge - at an LFS yesterday. Poor guys were in a 55g, they were previously in a 55g and the owners realized it was not enough space for them. So, now they sit waiting for a new home.

The LFS owner said that if they are not rehomed in the next while, he will transfer them into their 100g for the time being - assuming someone buys the huge arowana that is in there at present (feel bad for him, he has been there for a long time).

Koi are such beautiful fish! I really wanted to take them home. I have to admit, I love visiting the LFS (and we really only have two, if you do not count big box stores), but I also find it sort of depressing at times!

Love your pond - it's just more inspiration for us to have a pond like yours in the future!
