I have the opportunity to get foam for a Mattenfilter from the US and have come across 2 major suppliers: Angelsplus and Swisstropicals.

Price wise they are very similar but Angelsplus has the advantage that they cut the foam at the size you want. They have less PPI sizes though.

Does anybody know whether there is a considerable quality difference between the 2 suppliers?

I do not think there would be similar from what I have read you just need to decide how fine you want to go. I prefer to cut foam myself.

I found a supplier in Toronto which is much cheaper. The only downside is that you need to order at least 2 sheets. I will check here locally if somebody wants to get in with me on this as an order.

I have been watching youtube for matten filter builds. There is a kit that you can purchase to install from Swiss Tropicals. I like the idea of matten filters as it is a more sophisticated U/G filter (without gravel). Corner installation looks very clean and hides the best, but I guess it is preference.

Builu do you have an idea of how big a tank you will install into and whether you will go the length of the tank or corner ?

I will install them on the short sides of my tanks in a way that I can squeeze them between the sides. In my 20 gallon long I will use it as a divider.
