Tub filter media placement Empty Tub filter media placement

Post by Sandman1969 Fri Apr 08, 2016 11:21 am

I will be changing the media set up in my 10 galon tub filter soon and wanted to make sure I get the most out of the placement of the media.

The way this filter works is this;
water flows in at the bottom, rising up through a plastic grating, through a layer of plastic pot scrubbers, through floss & then out the top back into the tank.

What I will be doing soon is on the plastic grating, there will be a layer of Biochemical Filter Filtration Fish Tank Sponge Pad, a layer of Seachem Matrix over that, topped off with the floss. The Matrix will be spread out over a screen mess, kinda like an open bag to make it easier to pull out in one scoop to clean the filter.

How's that sound?
