It seems to be an open topped bag... wow. I can see why I never saw that!

I started keeping fish when I was 8, and buying my own fish by the time I was maybe 11, around 1970 (gulp). I only remember standard plastic fish bags, always printed with a food brand on the side of them. When you wanted to see your fish on the bus ride home, you had to look between the blocks of lettering - usually of tetra-min.

Zebra danios were 11 cents each at the Towers store, and neon tetras were a pricey 3 for a buck, or 35 cents each. I think white clouds were cheap too, cause those, mollies and 'feeder' guppies were what I had.

When you buy bettas in Vietnam, you still get them in a small open top plastic bag. They have nicely coloured stripes though, mostly blue and white or rose and white.

The sixties was also waaayyyyy before my time!

11 cents fish that were not feeder fish. To bad we will never see that again. Very interesting and I guess we don't have any members old enough to remember these bags.

I also wonder what they did before fish bags were invented. Glass jars or pails is likely.

I know from speaking to old time hobbyists (the man who founded the Montreal Club in 1933 was still active in it in the 1990s) that they used tin cans with removable lids. The fish were imported in larger tin boxes, and the stores had boxes for purchases I would guess into the 1950s.
By the sixties, there was a lot of plastic out there. I don't know when bags came into vogue though. That was before my time.

Tins cans and boxes I had never heard of or thought of. Thank you for that as I always find the history of the hobby very interesting.
