Snails in the filter Empty Snails in the filter

When you have snails and they make their way up into your filter & mix in with the pot scrubbers, what do you do?
Replacing the floss is easy enough. But I can't replace the scrubbers as that would cause problems.

Thoughts?

id leave them, they are just cleaning unneeded detritus from your filters.

Don't give that a second thought I pitch out at least 20 every time I clean a filter

But wouldn't that start another cycle? If I pitched 20, the filter would start over again.

The beneficial bacteria create the cycle not the snails, the snails have no role in that beyond producing a bit of ammonia.

Sorry, thought he meant he pitches 20 scrubbers.

Sandman, I followed the same logic you did... I'm thinking I just pick out the snails if they are just sitting there and pop them in one of my tanks with lots of assassins.
Then, I followed the REAL meaning of "pitching them!"

I never planned it that way, but I have pond snails in my biofilters. They just hang out there trying to look cool. They don't bother anything.

Easily, if it's homemade like mine. I use a 10 gallon Rubbermaid plastic storage tote for my filter on the 130 gallon tank.
