What I wrote in the title, I actually already knew but I fell into the trap again! On Black Friday I bought 3 croaking gouramis and as small fish I thought it would be OK to put them in a 30 gallon planted.

This would leave sufficient territory for any of them I thought. But no, I found one still alive but wounded in the tank and I moved him to a small tank on its own with methylene blue and mini water lettuce to recover. However, it was too late; the following morning I found him dead.

The strange thing is that he was the biggest of the 3 so you would simply not have expected it. As I am not sure about the sex of these fish I decided not to take any chances for the holidays and I separated them into different tanks. Something I should have done from the start of course....

I'm sorry to hear that Biulu. Where did you get the gouramis again?

Funny, I guess just like in people, the big guy isn't always the aggressive one. Sometime's its the small ones that have the bite. Hopefully the two will be okay together when you have a chance to watch them more closely.
