Dwarf Hair Grass (Elocharis Acicularis) Empty Dwarf Hair Grass (Elocharis Acicularis)

Dwarf Hairgrass or eleocharis acicularis is a stunning foreground plant when all grown in. It looks very similar to other hairgrass species such as Eleocharis parvula. However, eleocharis acicularis grows twice as tall (15 cm) than Eleocharis parvula (6 cm).
Dwarf hairgrass forms a lush, grassy carpet when provided with high light and carbon dioxide. In those conditions, its will expand at a moderate growth and spread through runners. Propagation is through splitting the runners. The blades of the plant will grow to a height of 6 inches (15 cm). The roots will penetrate approximately 1/4 inch deep and stretch through fine grain substrates. In shallow water or emersed growth, this plant will produce oval flowers at the tips of the stems.

Most aquascapers will place dwarf hairgrass in the foreground or midground areas of the aquarium. This will form a grass like appearance to the aquascape which can either balance well with against rocks, or other carpet foreground plants such as hemianthus callitrichoides, glossostigma elatinoides, or sagittaria subulata. This plant can also be used as ascents to an aquascape, by strategically placing small patches of the plant among rock crevasses or other plants such as riccia fluitians. In nano tank this plant makes a great background plant. A beautiful addition to the planted tank.  Cool
