Temporary house mate - Page 2 Empty Temporary house mate

Post by Biulu Sun Aug 03, 2014 9:12 pm

First topic message reminder :

My neighbour goes on holiday for a week and asked me tonight if he should feed his 'anguilla' (weather loach) extra to survive the week alone. I didn't think this to be a good idea and then remembered that the little girl/guy was in a 15 litre unfiltered tank.

So, I thought if the neighbour is going on holiday, then why not the pet?! So, I offered him to keep him in my 180 litre tank for the time being.

In the beginning it was sitting on the bottom without moving but by now it has seen the whole tank and has been swimming up and down.

Here is a picture of it while still in its transport recipient. It measures about 15 cms.

Thanks! She is back in her own tank and now has the filter running 24/7. She also has cabomba to rest on.

It might well be that she misses company although later in the week she swam considerably more.

The disease risk is true but I only keep 1 pair of feeder fish mollies in there so I don't have much to lose.

Good thing you have done for this weather loach! Smile
I am glad that she got you as a keeper for a week!

In a case such as this one the educational opportunities for her owners far outweighs any risk of disease, IMO. And, it sounds like it worked!!!!

Great news about the filter and cabomba! One small step at a time... You must know the saying, just about every majority starts out as a minority. Wink
