Amazon Frogbit is a water surface floating plant. Leaves reach about 1.5 inches across. It propagates by side shoot but does now spread as fast as other floating plants.
This is a very easy to care for plant, but still needs fertilizer for proper health. Lighting can be low to moderate. Does not do well in tanks with high surface disturbance and circulation as it can pull the leaves under the water and can cause the leaves to die if kept submerged for too long. Best in tanks with minimal water movement. In optimal conditions the roots can grow 6 inches and makes it an excellent plant for fry as it provides protection near the surface. If allowed to grow compact with zero space for horizontal growth the leaves will start growing vertically. Amazon frogbit is a water column feeder and nitrate loving plant. Often used to control nitrogen levels in an overstocked tanks. And not to mention it is very beauty and adds another layer to the planted tank.

Very nice looking floating plant. I have never seen this one type of frogbit before so thanks for sharing. What does the underside look like ? Is this a plant that would be good for timid surface fish.

There is long flowing roots underneath that makes a neat effect, and the leaves are fairly thick. And they be good for timid surface fish for sure.

Very nice looking plant, when I finally manage to get some I'll probably trade my water lettuce for some of these.
